Bee Hive Cake

The Bee Hive cake was my second fondant cake. I absolutely love the little fondant bees! They are super easy and fun to make and not to mention incredibly adorable!

I wish I would have made more tiers that were not as thick and a pan that had a more cone-shaped or round top to make it have more of a bee hive look.

Overall, I was not too satisfied with this cake. I had quite a bit of trouble covering the cake with the fondant (I'm not at the stage where I can do it alone and Ryan was at work!) I ended up creating a fairly large hole near the bottom, and in attempts to hide it, I decided to make an entry for the bees. Unfortunately, the hole was quite large so the doorway turned out to look really unproportional. Plus the cake was pretty lop-sided! But that's okay, I'm still learning, right? The next one will be much better!

I sure did get a lot of compliments on these guys though! The black fondant was a little bit dry so the stripes were starting to crack, but I think they turned out very well regardless!
